Who Are We?
Introduction
Company name: The Afro Hairdressing and Beauty Employers Association of Southern Africa (AHBEASA) is registered as an employer Association under Labour Law Relations Act and non-profit organisation.

Afro Hairdressing and Beauty Employers Association of Southern Africa (AHBEASA) was founded in 1990 with wide-ranging changes taking place in South Africa, as well as internationally, black business people in the afro hair & beauty industry will find it more difficult to operate in isolation and ensure survival. A lifeline for afro hairdressing & beauty is the employer body corporate represented by the Afro Hairdressing & Beauty Employers Association of Southern African (AHBEASA) and its three constituent chambers. Namely Afro hairdressing, Beauty and SMME

AHBEASA is apolitical. It is “the body of black owned salon businesses in the hairdressing & beauty sector” and it ensures that this body protect the interests of black hairdressing & beauty salon businesses, at local, regional and national levels

AHBEASA AHBEASA is the largest Afro Hairdressing & Beauty Employer Association in the country and SADEC. Through its constituent chambers, it has a total membership of close to 1200 black salon businesses, most of them small and medium-sized.

It was formed with the purpose to articulate the concerns and aspirations of black owned businesses in the hairdressing and beauty sector.

To strive for excellence and improvement of professionalism in quality service by our members and to be benchmark against the best practice in the world.

 
Mission Statement
The central purpose and role of AHBEASA is defined as:

AHBEASA's mission is to develop and raise the standard of the afro hairdressing and beauty salons in Southern Africa into a highly respected and desired career path by all South Africans

 
AHBEASA Objectives
Longer term business objectives are summarized as:
• Ensure adequate protection of the interests of black owned businesses in the hairdressing and beauty industry
• To formulate the policy that will transform this industry into the mainstream economy
• Assist AHBEASA in helping their members to run sustainable and grow their businesses and fulfil a leading role in country economy
• Promote and accelerate the Broad base Black Economic Empowerment (BBBEE) and market-oriented approach with equal opportunities for all
• Influence constructively the environment in which black business in the afro hairdressing & beauty operates
• to create opportunities for improving business skills through skills development Act
• To provide access to information for members that will contribute to the growth of their businesses
• To protect the exploitations of our members in all level by the manufacturers
• Open free trade system.
• To provide network platform for our members
• To formulate BBBEE industry codes.
 
How Does AHBEASA Operate

G        The highest authority in AHBEASA is the Annual Convention, where all categories of members determine the broad policy of the Association by means of Convention resolutions. Provincial Congresses are held annually to create a forum for constituent chambers to deliberate on regional/provincial issues and to identify matters that require national consideration.

A        The Association maintains close contact with government at all levels – local, provincial and national.

B      AHBEASA is also represented on the Services Seta & Bargaining Council

AHBEASA offers disciplinary advice on collective agreement specifically on terms of conditions of employment, Represents members at CCMA / Bargaining council during labour dispute, Advice members with disciplinary hearing procedures

AHBEASA offers a turn-key learnership management solution to employers seeking to enjoy the benefits of learnerships without involving internal senior staff. AHBEASA can act as both training provider and management partner to ensure that employers have a trouble-free learnership experience
